TITLE
Using Git effectively (when working as part of a Team)
OVERVIEW
Git is a distributed version control system used extensively in free software projects.
A team is characterized by a shared goal or a milestone to achieve.
Since there are multiple team members involved, the work is distributed as task items. Given the workflow and cadence of the team the various software components or pieces are assembled together.
This dynamics together with iterations with the customer means that there are multiple branches and competing priorities.
Thus the focus of this second and final session is
- configuration for team
- SSH or HTTPS settings
- fetch
- merge
- pull request
- integrating reviews
- fast forward
- bisect
- cherry picking
Please ensure that you have Git installed on your system.
