For June we'll get a special preview of Kelsey Jordahl's upcoming SciPy Conference presentation "Geospatial Data with Open Source Tools in Python".
From SciPi conference schedule:
Description:
Python has become an increasingly important language for working with geospatial data. This tutorial will focus on open source libraries that provide a high-level, pythonic interface to geographic data and computations. Students will learn to read standard GIS file formats, perform spatial calculations, and plot results.
Kelsey (on Twitter as @kajord) is the co-chair of the SciPy conference and has a wealth of knowledge about using Python for GIS and other scientific computing, so make sure to invite all of your GIS friends from the area.
I have also sent an invite to the Puget Sound Python group for those who will be unable to attend SciPy in Austin, so I'm expecting to have a great turnout.
As usual, BYOB, unless someone wants to sponsor a keg from River City.
Hope to see you there!
– Dan
