The Scrum Master role is often undervalued and misunderstood. Companies often struggle with clearly formulating the Scrum roles and the expectations of these roles. Scrum masters on the other hand, often have difficulties describing where they are at with their teams and what their strategies are for bringing them to the next level. Additionally, they might also struggle with describing what it is exactly that they are accountable for. There's no clear ambition, strategy or agenda.

The Scrum Guide clearly states a number of things the Scrum Master does for the team.

The Scrum Master serves the Development Team in several ways, including:
- Coaching the Development Team in self-organization and cross-functionality;
- Helping the Development Team to create high-value products;
- Removing impediments to the Development Team’s progress;
- Facilitating Scrum events as requested or needed; and,
- Coaching the Development Team in organizational environments in which Scrum is not yet fully adopted and understood.

Now, what pops to mind is: How do you take ownership of these services? And how to devise a strategy towards success?

In this meetup we'll highlight the importance of outlining ambitions for your Scrum Teams using popular frameworks and models such as Tuckman, the 5 dysfunctions of a team and various coaching stances to build strategies towards the before-mentioned ambitions. Used in unison these models allow you to build a radar of sorts to monitor your teams and act effectively in accordance with changes in the team. We'll wrap up the workshop by visualizing key takeaways.

Barry Heins
As Owner of EPIC Coaching, Barry Heins is currently Agile Coach at FleuraMetz, provides open subscription training and workshops and speaks at events like Scrum Day Europe and XP Days. Barry actively contributes to the Agile community through his blog posts on LinkedIN. Barry is a certified coach who helps teams and individuals.

James De Mulder
James is a Scrum Master and Agile coach who develops himself from a broad field of interest. He spends a lot of time expanding his knowledge in the fields of Agile, Lean, Lean Start-up and coaching in order to provide his teams with the best possible service and facilitation. In addition, he has extensive experience in the application of Scrum and Kanban within both Marketing- and IT teams. James has recently presented at Dream event and the Agile Consortium, and will be presenting at Scrum Days Europe in July.
In addition to his work as Scrum Master & Agile coach, James is also a partner and product owner in a start-up in the domain of education. Here he applies the knowledge and experience he has gained with innovation and Agile to provide the best possible software and service to his customers.

Barry and James were colleagues at Coolblue and together have set-up three 2-day training tracks that takes participants Beyond the Framework. The first track targets Scrum Masters and Agile Coaches, the second track targets Product Owners and the third track targets Managers.

## Parking

You can use the Q-Park Centrum Oost (Wibautstraat 3). Parking fee is charged (4 euro per hour with a maximum of 30 Euros per day).

It is a 12-minute walk from the Q-Park to the Wibautveste. You can also take metro 51, 53 and 54 from Metrostation Weesperplein to Metro station Wibautstraat.

You can also park on the streets surrounding the office which is 3 or 4 euro per hour.

## Public Transport

Opposite the Wibautveste you will find various metro stations, tram and bus stop, for example:
- From Amsterdam Central Station: metro 51, 53 and 54.
- From RAI Congress Centre: bus 65, or take tram 4 transfer to metro 51.
- From WTC: metro 51. Take exit Gijsbrecht van Aemstelstraat.
