MINDSTORM ROBOT NAVIGATION

For robots, the ability to navigate in its environment is important. Avoiding dangerous situations such as collisions and unsafe conditions first, but if the robot has a purpose that relates to specific places in it’s environment, it must find those places. In this months Blast Furnace Shane Abell is going to teach us how to help our own robots navigate the world using the power of Lego Mindstorms.

This month Shane Abell from St Mary's Gateshead will teach us the basics in coding LEGO Mindstorms {simple drag and drop BLOCK coding} with the ultimate challenge of navigating themselves around a road map and successfully parking in the garage. More advanced users will use touch and ultrasonic sensors to successfully navigate a maze, obey traffic light signals and complete the bull fighter challenge.

For those interested in the coding comps we will run some competitions and give you plenty of opportunity to accrue points for the blast furnace leaderboard. Make sure you have your CYFERLINX account setup to get the points!

It's a BYOC (bring your own computer) event. We will provide power, WiFi and Pizza!
