How well do you know our nearest neighbour? And have you ever observed it while listening to some appropriate music? This is an idea by an artist who will prepare a short playlist for us. I had never thought of combining observation and music.
If you own binoculars or a small telescope, bring them along. If you own beer, bring that too. I'm bringing two pairs of binoculars, 15x70 and 25x100.
Targets:
The moon: is around first quarter this Saturday, which brings out some great shadows. We can challenge ourselves with observing particular details, such as rilles, deep craters, mountains, 'wall' features, etc.
Jupiter: is pretty close to the moon. With powerful binoculars and average seeing conditions one should see four satellites and maybe an indication of two bands.
Asteroid Vesta and Saturn: both are WNW of Sagittarius these weeks. Vesta should be seen as a speck of light at around mag +6.5. A map: https://www.skyandtelescope.com/wp-content/uploads/June18_Vesta_Findr_BW.pdf

We meet in front of S-bahn/U-bahn Tempelhof (S41/S42/U6), on the side of the Aldi supermarket. We then head to a quiet corner of Tempelhofer field.
