PostgreSQL 15 and what makes it the best release so far (Wed, 9th Nov, 1830 hrs)

MOTIVATION
PostgreSQL 15 was released on October 13, 2022.

In addition to usual engineering fixes, there are plenty of exciting features, enhancements that speed up recovery and logical replication that makes PostgreSQL the best release so far.

FOCUS

• Performance improvement
• Workload management
• SQL MERGE command
• Async remote queries
• WAL compression
• changes to pg_basebackup
• Archiving
• new JSON based logging format
• Enhancements to Logical replication.

We will build PostgreSQL from the source code and then explore the new capabilities. Free software enthusiasts are welcome to try and set it up on their systems.

ONLINE
We use JITSI which has Audio, Video and Chat integrated in a single interface. Since JITSI is free software based service and has open interface, it is easily accessed using Browser or as a Android app.
