Enabling the Strategic and Data-Driven Agile Enterprise thru O-AA & TOGAF ADM

Enabling the Agile Enterprise to "SENSE the Change" and "ACT upon it Rapidly and Decisively" using O-AA and #togaf 10

The Open Group's Open Agile Architecture O-AA (TM) standard defines the "Dual Transformation" that concerns the #agile and #digital Enterprise by the following statements :

"The Agile enterprise senses changes in its environment early and acts upon them decisively and rapidly".

"The digital enterprise is about applying digital technology to adapt or change :

• The strategy of the enterprise, the product or service it markets,

• The experience it delivers to customers, employees and other stakeholders,

• Its operating system".

However O-AA does not provide a detailed explanation on "how to sense changes technically and react upon them decisively".

Indeed to concretize the "Change Sensing and Decisively Acting Agile Organization", we need to consider two things respectively regarding the coverage of O-AA building blocks depicted on the left and their realization on the right :

- On the left, the boundaries of 'Data' and 'Value' entities should be extended to cover Strategy, Organization and Governance building blocks (cf. dashed line in red in the figure on the left ) to feed the Strategy with the right data to enable strategic value creation and its delivery,

- On the right, a holistic approach with respectively two bridges to the Business Model Canvas (depicted below on the lower right corner) need to be considered to represent how these O-AA building blocks need to be used to 'sense change and react decisively'.

- Implementation of O-AA building blocks by TOGAF 10 ADM

- The bridge from "Customer Journey Steps" to Value Stream Stages thru "Strategy Aligned User Stories"
