This class is hands-on! We're gonna leave transmission rebuilds, engine overhauls and differential replacements to the mechanics, but everyone should know how to jumpstart, jack up their car and change a tire. We'll learn how and practice how to interpret a check engine light and the safest ways to replace a part when needed. You're welcome to work with your hands or simply watch and learn so you have the knowledge, no pressure!

If time permits, we'll also go through filters, spark plugs, coil packs, fuses, hoses and/or various sensors. 

Be prepared for possibly scraped knuckles, kneeling, squatting, &/or minor cuts on the hands, wrists &/or forearms. Not saying it WILL happen, but small annoyances are possible, especially if you don't know exactly what you're doing yet. 

Also PLEASE FIND YOUR CAR'S JACK BEFORE ARRIVING. There won't be enough time for me to wait for everyone to clean out the whole trunk in order to find it! It's ok if you can't get it out before class, just make it accessible. 

WHAT TO BRING:

 -$10 Cash (if you haven't paid yet, see FAQs for mobile/e-payment options)

-Gloves (work, vinyl, latex, whatever to keep you from getting dirty)

-Flashlight (or phone is fine)

-Any tools you want to use or learn about

-A big piece of cardboard, creeper (the flat rolly thing to lay on to get under the car) or something to lay on if you want to see under the car

Class is 1 hr long. We will meet at the Auto Center parking lot at the Hillsborough Walmart and park in a (approximately) circle with the fronts all facing each other, pop the hood and discuss, and finish with some Q & A.
