Friday chillout: Festive edition

Hi all,

Slowly but surely, the festive season is upon us and with it a chance to finally slow down. I don't know how about you but to me time seems to fly this year and so many things that were on my plan will have to wait. But not this - our last meetup for the year 2022!

Join us to chill out and catch up with old friends or to make new ones, whilst talking about our mixed race experience. So far, I'm pleased to say that this mini group has served its purpose and we had some great, candid conversations. Here's hoping that the trend continues in the following year.

So, if you want to socialise in the comfort of your home you can make it happen here.

Last but not least, to give this a bit of a festive feel, here's some info about Creole Christmas tradition:

At Christmas, in the dining room and parlor of a Creole house you'd  see gifts, fruits and candies, and cards that read Bonne Année. Typically, Creole people would celebrate traditions passed on by Europeans, including "Les étrennes" ( gift giving on New Year’s Day) and Réveillon (“Awakening”). This was an extravagant family meal following midnight mass, after having fasted all day on Christmas Eve. The feast would last into the early hours of the morning. The dishes included were rich foods such as oyster gumbo, roasted goose, daube glacé, soufflés, plum pudding, and coconut cake.

If you have a go, let us know the results at the next meetup  :-)

See you on 16 Dec 19:30 CET / 6.30pm GMT

Please RSVP if you'd like to join and change your status to 'not going' if you can't make it.

Thank you :-)
