FAQ β Telugu NRIs USA π
Q: What is this community?
A free, no-spam home for Telugu/Indian NRIs in the USA. We share job leads, visa and green-card updates, housing and money tips, local recommendations, and support β like a Nextdoor for our diaspora. By the NRI Herald team.
Q: Is it free? Will it always be free?
Joining is free, and the core community stays free. Later we may add optional paid perks (premium job leads, event tickets), but you'll never be forced to pay to belong.
Q: Is it only for Telugu people?
It's Telugu-first (our roots), but all Indian NRIs are welcome. Post in English or Telugu β whatever's comfortable.
Q: I just moved / I'm on H-1B and stressed about my job. Can this help?
Yes β that's exactly why we exist. Check Jobs & Careers for leads and resume/interview help, and Visa & Immigration for plain-language updates. Post your question; people here have been through it.
Q: How do I find things for my city?
Use the city tag in posts β like [Dallas], [NJ], [Bay Area]. Search or scan for your metro. If your city gets active, we may open a dedicated city group.
Q: Can I post a job, promote my business, or sell something?
Jobs: yes, real openings in Jobs & Careers (no fee-for-job scams). Business promo: only if it genuinely helps members, and ask a moderator first. Selling personal items: yes, in Buy & Sell (member-to-member). No spam, MLM, or crypto pumps.
Q: Is the advice here official or legal?
No. We share experiences and general info, not professional advice. For your specific case, consult a licensed immigration attorney or CPA.
Q: How do I stay safe from scams?
Never share SSN, bank, or passport details. Be wary of "jobs" asking for money. Report anything suspicious β we act fast.
Q: Who runs this and how do I get help?
A small team (starting with the founder). DM a moderator or post in General β we're friendly and quick. π
