Presented by Paul Mannick
This play is often known as "Oedipus Rex", though that title mixes Greek and Latin.
Paul has prepared two short readings for you, and two pictures.
The readings are
The pictures depict
1) The Theater of Dionysus in Athens, where the play was performed in about 427 BC.
2) Another beautiful ancient theater: the South Theater in Jarash, Jordan.
You may also wish to read the play itself. There are several good translations available free
online, including, but by no means limited to, those by Robert Fagles and David Grene.
Finally, there is an excellent film of the play, directed by Pasolini. It streams from the Criterion Channel.
The meeting will be held as usual at Mim's, 685 Gonzales Road, Santa Fe.
