This in-person meetup is for all the passionate techies speaking Tamil in Pondicherry & Auroville to come together, share knowledge and grow along the way. If you're an extremely passionate techie who's studying or working with technology in a regular basis, then please register for this event. Nittin Shankar is the organizer of the meetup. He's a web developer with over 5 years of experience building web applications in domains like tourism, marketplace, finance, NFTs, and many more. He is also a podcaster running a Tamil podcast called Vaanga Pazhagalaam with Techies where he interviews techies from various walks of life and look to learn from their journey, stories and experiences. New episodes release every two weeks.

3:45 PM - 4:30 PM: Tech talk -  Introduction to bindings in Ecto

Requirements:

Any programming experience is assumed

Experience with SQL joins is assumed

Elixir & Ecto background is nice to have but not necessary

Description:

Ecto is a database wrapper library for the programming language called Elixir. Elixir was ranked as the second most admired language in the StackOverflow Developer Survey 2023. You'll get introduced to Elixir and gather just enough knowledge to get started with Ecto.

You'll then learn the basic capabilities of Ecto and how to get started. Composability through bindings is a major factor that makes everyone love Ecto. In this talk, you'll learn what bindings mean, and how Ecto queries are composable. Many examples will be provided to strengthen the knowledge.

This talk is presented by Nittin Shankar(the organizer of the meetup). He has firsthand experience working with Elixir and Ecto for more than 4 years.

For active involvement in engagement of our discussion, please make sure you listen to episode in advance. We've had experiences where participants have forgot to listen and hence couldn't engage in the discussion.

Description:

We all interpret things in a unique manner that is different from each other. Let's get together to discuss our learnings and interpretations from listening to the latest episode from the podcast Vaanga Pazhagalaam with techies. The idea is to collectively be open-minded and learn together, using the podcast episode as the instrument.

The location shown by default is wrong. The meetup is taking place at Talam's office located in Auromode Apartments, Auroville. Participants have faced trouble previously to reach as there are many confusing routes. It is advisable to use the route to Auromode Apartments through Visitors Center.
