About
The Scrum Guide states that Scrum is lightweight, simple to understand, yet difficult to master. To kickstart a new round of NLScrum Meetups, we thought that would be a great place to start.
How can you apply core Scrum in real life? That is, create teams with no more than three defined roles, that structure their work around creating a product using just five events and three artifacts to organize themselves.
After a quick recap of the intent of the three roles, the five events, and the three artifacts, we'll take stock of common problems, objections, and perversions. Then, we'll discuss how we can use just Scrum to address those issues.
That's the creative challenge of the evening: to learn how to solve issues with the way we do Scrum without any additives. In my personal experience, this is both very challenging, as well as very insightful.
The agenda for the evening then, will probably end up looking something like this:
• 18:00 Welcome with dinner and refreshments.
• 18:30 Plenary: Quick recap of the intent of the three roles.
• 18:45 In groups of five: Take stock of common problems, objections, and perversions.
• 19:15 Plenary: Cluster and dot-vote to determine a top-10.
• 19:45 In groups of five: Take a top-10 item and figure out how to use just Scrum to address it.
• 20:15 Plenary: Aggregate, present, and discuss results of the breakouts.
• 20:45 Start wrapping up.
• 21:00 Goodbye with snacks and refreshments.
