Humanitarian OpenStreetMap Meetup - Let's Map Tanzania!

About

• What we'll do
What is Humanitarian OpenStreetMap? It's a great way to remotely help aid agencies, governments and other organisations providing disaster response and reconstruction around the world. It works by mapping buildings, roads and other useful features that allow entities to coordinate their responses and ensure that their resources are deployed.

You can find out more about HOT on their website: https://www.hotosm.org/

We will be mapping a task for the Tanzanian Development Trust. The province of Karagwe has a high incidence of extreme poverty, early marriage and Gender Based Violence. NGOs on the ground need better road and residential area data to facilitate their outreach work. No previous experience in anything is required! We will be providing some basic training and there will be experienced mappers on hand to help you out.

Thanks to a partnership with WeWork, they are very generously providing a space for our March meetup for free! Check out their website here: https://www.wework.com/l/melbourne
