Lisbon |> Elixir 6th Edition
Hey there fellow Sippers! As we announced on the previous edition, we're aiming to make this a monthly meet-up, so here we are with a new edition. Since in December lots of people go on holidays on the third week (or go to some last-minute shopping) we're doing this edition on the second week of December. Apologies for announcing the event so close to the date itself!

We'll have talks on two very interesting topics:

• Talk #1: Event Sourcing in Elixir with Commanded
Speaker: Bruno Antunes – Software Engineer at Onfido

We all deal with data. The traditional CRUD approach to data handling in software has some drawbacks though, and is not letting you reach the full potential of your data. With Event Sourcing, you divide and conquer: first storing business facts as events, then building knowledge from them. My talk will (hopefully) shine some light on the fundamentals to this approach, and why its closer relationship to facts makes your mental models more robust.

• Talk #2: Erlang Distribution Protocol - Interoperability made easy
Speaker: Filipe Cabaço – Software Engineer at Volkswagen Digital Lab

Did you ever felt that interoperability was difficult? Did you ever miss a library or feature from a different language? Well stress no more! We're going to do a shallow dive onto the Erlang Distribution Protocol with a small example application, showing how EDP enables us to share messages between multiple systems, giving us the power to use multiple languages in a scalable way with little to no sacrifices.

Here's the schedule for the event:

• 6:30PM - 7:00PM – Registration
• 7:00PM - 7:45PM – Talk #1
• 7:45PM - 8:00PM – Coffee Break
• 8:00PM - 8:45PM – Talk #2

Take the opportunity to mingle, network and share experiences! Last but not least, please keep submitting your talks for future editions of this meetup :) (either send us a message on Meetup or come talk to us on Gitter https://gitter.im/lisbon-elixir/community)

There are no comments. Be the first one!
