When Tyler Basu started his first podcast called Chatting With Champions in 2013, he barely knew what he was doing. He spent literally hundreds of hours making just about every mistake a podcast host can make. But he learned from each mistake, continuously refining his skills as a podcast host and as a marketer. By 2015, after publishing over 100 interviews with successful entrepreneurs, which collectively received over 40,000 downloads and over 50 5-star reviews iTunes, he finally felt like he knew what he was doing.
In 2015, he self-published his book Lifestyle Business Blueprint on Amazon, and after promoting the book to his podcast listeners, it became a #1 Amazon Bestseller. It was in that precise moment that he realized just how powerful hosting a podcast can be. It gave him the opportunity to earn the trust of a loyal audience by sharing helpful content with them consistently. And when he was ready to promote something to them, they bought it.
Later that year, Tyler started a digital magazine called <a>Lifestyle Business Magazine</a>, which features articles and case studies of successful lifestyle entrepreneurs. After publishing the magazine’s first issue in the App Store, he launched his second podcast, the <a>Lifestyle Business Magazine Podcast</a>. This time, he was armed with a marketing strategy to help ensure the success of the podcast from Day 1.
Immediately after launching, the Lifestyle Business Magazine Podcast was featured the New & Noteworthy section of iTunes in 6 categories in Canada and the United States, eventually claiming #1 in Management and Marketing, #1 in Education, #1 in Training, and #3 in Business. That exposure resulted in thousands of downloads, more subscribers to his digital magazine, and over 70 5-star reviews on iTunes in an 8-week period.
