About

In 2009, Christine Pilkington launched VancouverMom.ca with the intent of making it her primary source of income so she could have a flexible lifestyle as a mom of her three kids. After researching the usual advice given to rookie bloggers, Christine opted to go her own route and launched the site following her experience as a Director for Rogers Media and using techniques from traditional media.
In this talk, Christine will share how she got started, the importance of thinking of your blog as a business, and some techniques she used to get early wins - all of which lead to her launching into 5 more cities and growing a six-figure online business.
In this presentation you will discover:
- The importance of thinking of your blog as a business
- Determining your sellable niche
- Producing meaningful content
- Creating a team (leveraging VAs, other content creators, salespeople)
- Following the "big guys" to create monetizeable products for potential advertisers
Christine Pilkington founded Crisp Media Inc. in 2009. Its first online magazine VancouverMom.ca is the the go-to online resource for urbanite moms living in Vancouver. With experience at Blast Radius and Rogers Digital Media, Christine has worked with some of the world's top brands and media properties, including BMW, MINI, AOL, Chatelaine and CityTV.
