PRESENTATION

This month we're excited to welcome Janice Savage who will be speaking on sales tax!  Something we all wish we knew more about.

Janice Savage is a Commodity Tax professional with 20 years of experience in tax advisory, recovery and compliance services. Her areas of expertise include GST/HST, Provincial Sales Taxes, Payroll taxes, (such as Canada Pension Plan and Employment Insurance premiums,) Workplace Safety and Insurance Board (WSIB) premiums and personal income tax.

Prior to starting her own firm, Janice served as the KPMG Practice Leader for Indirect Tax in Southwestern Ontario where she had notable success working with the CRA to resolve tax disputes, move voluntary disclosures through the system and advising on cross - border transactions. During that time she also received a National Innovation Award from KPMG for designing a tool to help public sector employers calculate premiums in connection with voluntary pension buy-back.

Janice is the in-house Tax Mentor at The Forge, Hamilton’s startup incubator and McMaster University’s on-campus entrepreneurship initiative. She volunteers with the Chartered Professional Accountants Financial Literacy Program speaking to groups about such matters as teaching children about money, financial literacy for new Canadians, identity theft prevention and managing credit. Janice also maintains a seat on the Board of Directors and Finance Committee of Women’s Crisis Services of Waterloo Region. In addition to being a member of the Hamilton Chamber of Commerce she was also a speaker at the 8th Annual Inspiring Women event  held by the Kitchener-Waterloo Chamber of Commerce.

PARKING

There is plenty of parking in the IMPARK parking lot next to the venue. Entrance to the parking lot is accessible off James Street S. as well as off Augusta Street beside The Pheasant Plucker (20 Augusta). It is $4 for the evening.
