2 years ago on November 9th, 2013 we put an invitation out on Meetup.com to see if freelancers in Hamilton would be interested in coming out to meet and connect with each other.
The response was incredible, with over 40 perfect strangers showing up at one spot to meet. The people that came out to our first networking event inspired us and motivated us to build what today is known as the Hamilton Freelancers Association.
Fast forward 2 years and we've grown to over 420 members, hosted 18 networking meetup events as well as attended expos and conferences to continue supporting and promoting the strong freelancer community we have in this great city. We've had incredible keynote speakers come and share their knowledge with us to help us individually grow our brands, businesses, and lives as freelancers.
This month marks our 2nd Anniversary, and we welcome you to join us in celebrating.

PRESENTATIONS
This month, since it's our anniversary event, we're going back to our roots! Both Brian Hogg and Chad Fullerton will be taking the best from their past presentations and covering popular topics such as:
• How to price your services
• Logistics of registering and paying yourself
• HST tips
• Invoicing other countries
• Tools and marketplaces to find freelance projects
and much more!
PARKING
There is plenty of parking in the IMPARK parking lot next to the venue. Entrance to the parking lot is accessible off James Street S. as well as off Augusta Street beside The Pheasant Plucker (20 Augusta). It is $4 for the evening.
ABOUT FREELANCER MEETUP
Freelancer Meetups are monthly events run by the Hamilton Freelancers Association. They are free, and open to all professionals, entrepreneurs, and freelancers in the Hamilton area, whether you’re just starting a freelancing consulting business, or you’re running a consulting business full time.
We bring in some of the best and brightest to give talks on ways to help you build and grow your entrepreneurial venture, showcase various web-based tools and services you can use as a freelancer to help you build or grow your business such as productivity apps, email marketing services, invoicing, social media, and accounting tools, and facilitate a fun networking session to connect with other freelancers and meet new friends.
The Hamilton Freelancers Association is free to join and is open to freelancers of all skills and specialties, including designers, developers, marketers, videographers, photographers, writers, and everyone in between.
No one is put on the spot at our events. If you are a shy type of personality, don't worry. Come out and we will make sure you feel welcome and make connections.
