This event will be based out of Stuart's house in South Beach, Gimli (1 Hannson Avenue).
Join us in Gimli for a spring break getaway! The weather and snow melt may determine what we get up to, but likely a healthy combination of: hiking, walks, kite flying, chicken / horse / donkey visiting, bon fire, games and food!
Come out for just the day (Saturday or Sunday), or stay overnight for the weekend. Please let me know if you plan on staying overnight, as I can likely accommodate up to 6-7 people at most (there is a set of bunk beds, a king size bed, and floor space available).
We can also set up some carpooling to save on gas. If you have questions about this event, post a comment here and I'll answer the best I can!
AGENDA
Erin and I will arrive on Saturday, March 29th around noon.
We will be leaving Sunday, March 30th around 3pm.
EFW
Saturday is here! Looks like the highways are either "Clear" or "Partly Covered". #8 is a faster option, though #9 looks more clear up to Selkirk and after Winnipeg Beach. I will likely take #9 today. I will try to get there for around 11:30am to do some shoveling. Bring anything you'd like for the weekend. I don't have much for extra blankets, maybe bring something with you if you like cooking at night. Tonight we will have the bonfire at my sister's. The temp will be around -7, so please be dressed for that! Anyone that would rather stay at my place instead of heading to Andrea's farm is welcome to do so. See you soon! Stuart Klassen
Hello everyone! Sorry for the delay in getting this message out; but let's talk carpooling / food / itinerary! CARPOOLING Anyone that is looking to carpool, please reply here with the part of town you live in. I will be leaving from the South end, and have space for 1 more person. I will be heading out Saturday around 10:00am. I know of 2-3 others that are planning to drive, so let us know if you want to organize something. If you want me to connect you with someone else via text; email me or private message me your number and I can get it to that person. FOOD The planned meals will be an early supper on Saturday, then breakfast and lunch on Sunday. I'm thinking if we get two people to volunteer per meal, then we can cover the meals with a potluck style approach. Please respond with whichever meal you are interested in helping with. I will make pizza for Saturday dinner and banana pancakes / eggs for breakfast. AGENDA This is a rough suggestion, and everyone is free to go do whatever they want! Saturday: noon: arrive and get settled, hang out, go for a walk of Gimli, play games while dinner is being prepared. 4:30pm: Eat dinner 7:00pm: Head to my sister's farm (20 min drive north of Gimli) for bonfire, visiting with the animals, wood chopping... will also bring games for anyone that's wanting to get as much gaming in as possible. 10:00pm: Head back to Gimli for the night. Sunday: breakfast at some time.....9:00ish? rest of day: up to everyone! (Gimli, workout, games, walk on the lake, kiteboarding.....) If you are hoping for a bed, and have not requested one yet, please let me know! There are 4 beds in total, and a mattress that can go on the floor. Please note!! I have a kitchen table, and that's it for furniture (well, a few extra chairs). So no couch, sauna, whirlpool, personal masseuse, etc. Not exactly roughing it, but not exactly luxury either :) Let me know if you have any questions about the weekend. Looking forward to seeing you all out there! Stuart
Great news! I forgot about a second spare mattress (or futon to be more precise), so that means everyone looking to not sleep on the floor does not have to! Robyn, you should not need your cot, unless you prefer to bring it.
I’m undecided on which meal to bring , I’ll comment when I know . But I’ll be bringing fruit as well .
If there’s still a bed available, count me in! If not, no worries. I would’ve loved to carpool, but I’m heading to my friend’s kid’s birthday party in the morning. I’ll be getting to Gimli around 1-2 PM and have to leave by 11:00am Sunday . if anyone’s driving around that time, let me know. I hate long drives alone!
I’d like to stay overnight. I’d like to put dibs on a bed please (I don’t do well on the floor). Thanks.
