About
Lets go snowshoeing!
Our great friend Winson, who is also the assistant organizer from Asia Pro meetup group, has agreed to lead us on a great snowshoeing adventure.
I've gone with Winson to snowshoeing once last year (Winson had been snowshoeing for over 10 years) and it is a whole lot of fun.
Hopefully this will be the first of at least three snowshoe events, each progressively more fun or difficult, depending on your point of view.
The first event will be at the Cypress Snowshoe Park and is intended for complete beginners, and no special equipment is needed. The park has numerous trails ranging in difficulty from "a walk in the park" easy to moderate (for a beginner). The trails are well marked, and the park is fenced off. Another great thing about the park is the cafe in the middle of the park, where we can take a break, stay warm, and get some hot chocolate.
Cost:
- Park Ticket and Snowshoe rental is $26. Ticket only is $10
What to wear:
- Layers are better than a big jacket. A dry fit shirt followed by a fleece (or two or three), and a wind breaker / shell is good. At times you want to take a layer on or off to be a bit warmer or cooler. With a bit jacket, youll probably be hot or cold, but not just right. Remember Goldilocks J
- For the legs, a pair of tights / long johns, followed by another warmer layer that is water resistant. Jeans and sweat pants would be bad.
- For your feet, a good water resistant boot is best, but a pair of runner cover with a plastic bag works just as well.
What else to bring:
- Some water and a snack or two, and a few dollars if you want stuff from the café.
Please indicate whether you are able to drive to Cypress.
Carpoolers: $5 per person
Drivers: You will receive all the money from Carpoolers, so please indicate how many seats you have available.
See you there!
