Rush Hour at the Piano - Concert downtown with beverages and food!

About

It’s Friday night. You’ve just finished a long week at work or school. Many concerts start a bit later – at around 8 PM. That can make for a fairly late evening!

For tickets click here: https://www.eventbrite.ca/e/rush-hour-at-the-piano-feng-bian-in-recital-tickets-62801268284

We have partnered with Tom Lee Music to present something new here in Vancouver. The Rush Hour Series. Come for a shorter concert right after work or school at 6 PM and then you have time to grab a nice dinner with friends – or (let’s face it) head home to relax and rewatch Game of Thrones!

At our concert, you can expect a savoury snack, a refreshing beverage, and a memorable performance.

We’ve invited some incredible international talent to get this party started!

Feng Bian started playing the piano at age 6 and has participated in many competitions as well as performances within his native country-China and across the United States. His recording of Franz Liszt’s Berlioz transcriptions with the Naxos label was released in 2017. He has performed a duo recital with the principle cellist of LA Chamber Orchestra Andrew Shulman in 2017. His other notable chamber music
collaborations include prestigious musicians such as Ron McCardy on the Lin Jinhui project, the award-winning Saguaro Trio and Los Angeles Ensemble. As a composer and improviser, his string quartet was premiered by the Euler Quartet in May 2018, and he has performed with the renown improviser/composer John Bayless in an improvisation concert sponsored by Virginia Waring International Piano Competition in
2015. As a member of the International Society for Improvised Music he is invited to participate in the 11th ISIM festival and conference this summer. His orchestral appearances include Mozart’s piano concerto KV.491 with the Culver City Symphony Orchestra, the Poulenc’s double piano concerto and Mozart’s piano concerto in C Minor KV.491 with the Colburn Orchestra; and Tchaikovsky Concerto No.1 with the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra.

Bian became a member of the PI KAPPA LAMBDA National Music Honor Society in 2019. (2011), first prize of the Parness Young Artist Concerto Competition (2011) and a YAMAHA scholarship (2006).

He has also attended summer festivals including Morningside Music Bridge, Sarasota Music Festival, and the Holland Music sessions.
Bian received his Bachelor degree and Artist Diploma from the Colburn School of Performing Arts under the instruction of the prestigious teacher John Perry. He has earned a Master of Music degree from the Yale School of Music, in which he studied with the distinguished teacher Peter Frankl. He has graduated from USC Thornton School of Music with a Doctor of Musical Arts degree under the instruction of world-renowned performers Norman Krieger and Jeffrey Kahane in 2019.
