About
Die schöne Müllerin is a cycle of 20 songs by popular composer Franz Schubert using poetry by German-Romantic writer Wilhelm Müller. It is considered one of the composer's most important works and remains a staple of the art song repertory. The cycle follows a narrative concerning a young, care-free journeyman who is enthralled by the beautiful daughter of a mill's owner. Lamont and Knopp's interpretation attempts to tackle important modern social issues and to bring Schubert's music to life in a fresh, vibrant way. Die schöne Müllerin will be sung in original German with overhead translations of the poems in English.
