About
Get ready! This Friday a partial solar eclipse will occur, and at our latitude it will reach a very decent ~80% of coverage!
To get an idea of what to expect, check this out http://www.timeanddate.com/eclipse/in/germany/berlin
If you miss this eclipse, you'll need to wait till 2021, but it won't be anywhere cool as this one :(
The usual " don't look at the sun or you'll get blind *_* " warning applies. I only have 3 solar glasses and probably they won't be enough for everybody. You may want to grab one of these https://astrosolar.com/en/products/whitelight/astrosolar-silver-solar-viewer/ (this is not an affiliate link, I just think they do decent stuff).
LOCATION UPDATE - We won't meet at the Wasserturm Platz, but we'll instead join together with the folks from the Carl Zeiss Planetarium in Prenzlauer Berg. We'll meet inside the Ernst-Thälmann-Park, which is behind the Planetarium itself. Here -> https://goo.gl/maps/9Tv4s
And now, the wow thing: this eclipse will happen exactely the day of the Spring Equinox, so it's legit to expect UFOs coming and probably the end of the world... but as long as we have our solar filters, we'll be good :)
What a nice excuse for half a day off of work... see you soon!
